Best value wine in a long time: Ziereisen Steinkrügle 2018
From: instagram.com/vinoblogie
‘Jura style’ oxidative, precise & wild white from the most southwestern tip of Baden in Southwest Germany, bordering France and Switzerland,
100% Chasselas🇫🇷/Gutedel🇩🇪, made by Hanspeter Ziereisen.
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Fresh, lemons, wild, flinty, with a carotenic touch and curry spices, toasted walnuts, creamy yet super fresh, racy acidity, bone dry (only 0,7 g/l of residual sugar), salted butterscotch caramel, lemon butter…
Wine had lees contact in barrel for 20 months, which creates a reductive environment and protects the wine from oxidation. It is kept on the thin line just between reduction and oxidation.
It’s both oily/creamy/lactic & citrusy fresh, energetic, uplifting. Exciting wine, with everything just in place. Just 11,5% and a tiny, tiny fizz that adds to the vibrancy.
A complex wine that drinks dangerously easy. If you love vibrant acidity and a wild touch.
A wine that I’d love to drink even in the middle of the night, an instant favourite, at just €16,50 which is excellent value for this quality and style.
